Grandville used timely foul shooting to defeat Rockford 52-49 on Tuesday.

"It came down to the last quarter," Grandville coach Sam Cornett said. "It was a one-point game going into the fourth and we were able to make our free throws and got ahead of them. They had to start fouling and we made the free throws down the stretch.

"We were thrilled, it was big deal for us to get another OK Red win."

Alex Bischoff scored 15 points for Grandville and Corey Palmer and Austin Dukesherer added 11 points apiece, while Andrew Heider led Rockford with 14 points and Jason Majerle added 11. Cornett was impressed with Palmer, who has returned to the lineup after breaking his leg in the preseason.

"He is a huge guy," Cornett said of the senior. "We call him the microwave. He has been a huge lift to us.

"It feels like he is back to normal after all this time."

Trailing 25-20 at the half, Grandville outscored Rockford 32-24 the rest of the way. While Cornett is proud of his team, he knows that they must stay focused on the task ahead. Grandville faces an undefeated East Kentwood team on Friday.

"We get to play the No. 9 team in the nation," Cornett said. "No nights off in the OK Red. We are playing really good basketball."
