Rockford's hopes for an OK Red boys basketball title remained alive with Friday's 57-47 win over Holland West Ottawa that kept the Rams a game behind frontrunner East Kentwood.

The Rams are 3-1 in the OK Red (5-7 overall), while the Falcons are unbeaten after a 68-38 win over Grandville.

Rockford erased a 12-10 first quarter deficit by outscoring West Ottawa 13-10 and 17-15 in the next two periods.

Jason Majerle had 15 points, Michael Peterson 14, Nolan Bryant 11 and Josiah Salik 10 for Rockford. West Ottawa's Caleb McNitt had 16 points.

"We had some chances to close the gap and we'll leave it at that," West Ottawa coach Steve Windemuller said.
