Kalamazoo Central 63, Rockford 59: Turnovers plague Rams as Giants stay undefeated

Kalamazoo Central keeps its win streak alive as the Giants hold on to defeat the Rams of Rockford 63-59 on Tuesday.

Devon Daniels led Central with 17 points and four steals, while Orlando Little added 14 points. Isiah Livers had eight points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Rockford's Jason Majerle led all scorers with 21 points, while shooting 7-10 from 3-point range and Josiah Salik had 19. 

Down 25-27 at the half, Central outscored Rockford 38-32 in the second half. Rockford got within three points late, but Central knocked down key free throws to extend the lead. 

Central's defense came up huge, forcing 21 Rockford turnovers that led to 25 points for Central. Central also aggressive on the offensive end, outscoring Rockford 21-5 on second-chance points. 

 "We felt we needed to keep them out of the middle," Central coach Ramsey Nichols said. "(We) cut the floor in half and tried to keep them on that side. Got a couple steals here and there."

Central faces Mattawan at 7 p.m. Friday at Mattawan High School.
