GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The so-called consolation match of the Cornerstone University Holiday Gold Division could very well have been the championship matchup. Rockford and Northpointe Christian battled back and forth throughout the game, trading momentum back and forth until the end when the Mustangs won 58-53.

Key to the Game

Down by two points with one minute to go in the game, Rockford came out and fouled Northpointe guard Andrew Holesinger who made both foul shots to put the Mustangs up by four points. The Rams missed a 3-point shot which Holesinger rebounded and was fouled again.

He made both foul shots to keep the Mustangs ahead for good.

"It was great getting the win against Rockford but it’s tough as Nick (Allen, Rockford’s coach) and I coached together at East Grand Rapids when I first started," Northpointe coach Jared Redell said. "I know they’ve gotten off to a rough start being 2-4 but he does such a great job and I’ll know they’ll get it going and be a team to deal with in the playoffs."
