Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central 74, Rockford 52: Boys in the middle take over to give Rangers a win

Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central boys basketball team came out hard to start both the first and second halves against Rockford on Tuesday night. With a strong effort in the paint, the Rangers claimed a 74-52 victory.

Between the three post players for Forest Hills Central, Chad Bauchan, Xavier Tillman, and Ike Kanu combined for 22-of-32 from the field and 22 rebounds to contribute 47 of the total 74 points on the night.

Bauchan led Forest Hills central with 24 points and nine rebounds, while Tillman added 11 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in his contribution.

"Our guards just did a much better job defensively early in the third causing turnovers, and then our big guys did a great job of finishing," Forest Hills Central coach Ken George said. "They accepted the challenge to take the ball to the rim and get deep in the paint."

For Rockford, Jason Majerle led his team with 19 total points while Jacob VanCuren added 10 points of his own.

With the win, Forest Hills Central remains undefeated on the year with five victories.
