The Kalamazoo Central boys basketball team took a 34-26 halftime lead, and added 32 points in the second half to record the 66-50 win over host Rockford on Thursday. "We did a good job of increasing our lead in the third quarter by getting the ball inside," Kalamazoo Central coach Ramsey Nichols said. "We thought we had an advantage there, and Orlando (Little) did a good job getting into the post. We were able to get him the ball, and he finished around the basket." Devon Daniels scored 17 points to lead Central (17-3), while Orlando Little added 16 and Jordan Hunt added 15. Nichols believes his second year with the same roster has paid dividends. "I was able to work with these guys for a full year last year," Nichols said. "It took a while to get my system in, but the kids bought in, and we were able to get a lot of work in since that first season." Nathan Woznick scored 19 points to lead Rockford (8-10). Rockford faces Cedar Springs (12-8) on Monday in the opening round of Class A district action at Cedar Springs High School, while Kalamazoo Central hosts the winner of Mattawan (4-14) and Portage Northern (10-10) on Wednesday in the Class A district semifinals.
