Muskegon Heights defeats Rockford in boys basketball
local reports/Muskegon Chronicle
Muskegon Heights coach Keith Guy likes a good road game to challenge
his team.
The Tigers proved they were ready for the challenge at Class A
Rockford on Saturday night as they rolled to an 80-66 nonleague
victory.
"This was a good early test at a tough place to play,'' Guy
said. "I thought our defensive effort was huge. Rockford is
a solid team with a lot of different people who can score in different
ways. We beat a good team tonight.''
Heights (2-0) led 17-16 after one quarter and 33-25 at halftime
before pulling away in the second half.
Deontae Hudson had a big game for the Tigers with 22 points and
six rebounds. Guard Van Parker chipped in with 18 points, 10 assists
and three steals and Jullian Plummer added 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Heights also shot 59 percent from the floor and relied on its
hounding man-to-man defense.
Matthew Karamal led Rockford (1-1) with 17 points.
