Arthur Hill beats Rockford, 65-51
THE SAGINAW NEWS

Arthur Hill's basketball team picked up yet another impressive victory Saturday, defeating defending Class A state champion Rockford, 65-51. " This was an excellent win for us," McMath said. "To beat the defending state champions is quite an accomplishment."

It also ends an impressive month for the Lumberjacks, one in which they defeated three of the final four teams that played for last year's Class A state title. Arthur Hill, which is 12-0 on the season, also beat state runner-up Flint Carman-Ainsworth and semifinalist Detroit Murray-Wright.

Saturday's win was anything but easy, though. The Lumberjacks trailed by three points heading into the final quarter, before imposing their will on Rockford.

" I told the guys that the fourth quarter had to belong to us," McMath said. "We got more aggressive on the defensive end of the floor and played our style of up-tempo basketball."

Brian Moten scored 11 of his game-high 24 points in the final quarter, as Arthur Hill outscored the Rams 31-15. Melvin Williams added 10 points for the Lumberjacks, who are ranked fourth in Class A.
