FH Central gets past Rockford

If the Rangers from Forest Hills Central didn't think they were a good team before Friday night's O-K Red Metro showdown with Rockford, coach Ken George says they now know better.

Mark Lettinga, a 6-foot-7 junior, scored 20 points, and the Rangers used a 21-13 scoring advantage at the free-throw line to down the Rams, 60-53, at Central. It was Rockford's first loss in conference play since the 2000-01 season.

Kyle Behm had 14 points and Chris Keller 12 to aide the Rangers, who are 4-2 overall, and 2-1 in the Metro. The game also marked the return of Lettinga's identical twin, Luke, who missed two weeks with an ankle sprain. Luke Lettinga had eight points, five rebounds and seven assists.
" When you beat Rockford, you've done something," George said. "We thought we were good coming in, and we proved it to ourselves and to others."

Rockford, the defending state Class A champion, fell to 3-2 and 1-1 despite a game-high 23 points from Michael Redell.
